One of the largest decommissioning oil&gas tasks undertaken in the North Sea is underway at the Tyra field in Denmark and at the same time the world’s first offshore wind farm Vindeby has been decommissioned. Offshoreenergy.dk has been working on Danish decommissioning development projects for the past decade. Projects include development of special barges, rig cantilever solution, environmental impact assessment of the Port of Esbjerg, cost-effective cutting, networking and partnerships.

Danish offshore driller Maersk Drilling and vessel provider Maersk Supply Service have established a joint venture focused on the oil and gas decommissioning market. An example is the James and Leadon wells where Maersk Drilling did the plug and abandonment and Maersk Supply Service provided the marine asset coverage on all 3 subsea fields.

Port of Frederikshavn has a close cooperation and a long-term lease agreement with Modern American Recycling Services (MARS), involved in reception, onshore decommissioning, handling, sorting, recycling and reuse of oil platforms and fixed/floating constructions incl. rigs, ships, barges, others. MARS Europe has a purpose constructed facility under construction at Port of Frederikshavn. The facility is expected fully operational in Q2 2019.
