Future Truck and Public Transport in an Energy Perspective is co-arranged with IDA Energi, Transportens Innovations Netværk (TINV) and DTU Transport
Energy to transport constitutes 205 PJ/y or 33 % (2012) of the total energy consumption in Denmark and is for 94% fossil driven. Is it possible to work with energy sources with a lower “Carbon Footprint” within the trucking and public transport sectors?
The importance of this question has been in focus for quite some time and further electrification of the railroads as well as battery technologies have been seen as important elements in the transition to cleaner fuels.
Natural gas and/or upgraded biogas are other elements brought up – often referring to Swedish experiences. Finally biodiesel and/or bioethanol is expected to be part of the equation – but both gas and biofuels have recently been questioned.
What exactly are the environmental and energy facts for fueling the future transport system – in this context, focusing on truck and public transport on the roads?
