Modeling pipe flow and the barn owls auditory system
Christian Marschler is a Ph.D.-student at DTU Department of Mathematics and will talk on two applications of dynamical systems. The first is his master thesis work on analytical predictions of the transition from laminar to turbulent flow in pipes. After refreshments he will turn to so-called equation-free methods used to study the evolution of macroscopic patterns where only equations for the microscopic level are known. He then applies these methods to the Barn Owls auditory system where the underlying neuron dynamics is known.
This evening is held in collaboration with DTU Department of Mathematics and is aimed at students but many others may enjoy the talks.
