Stem Cells and Tissue Engineering
10th Danish Conference on Biotechnology and Molecular Biology
Embryonic stem cells (ESC) and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) hold the potential to generate virtually every cell type of our body. Within the last decade the regenerative capacity of adult stem cells have been widely exploited to generate tissues including blood vessels, bone, cartilage and more complex organs such as liver, intestine and heart. Particularly in the field of tissue engineering, research into developing the correct biomaterials and tissue-specific scaffolds have been given a tremendous push forward and with our increased understanding of fundamental stem cell biology, stem cell-based treatments and drug screening of patients is within reach. These translational stem cell activities are essential for realizing the promise of stem cells for future clinical treatments. Research groups at universities and in industry around the world are already pursuing clinical trials based on stem cells. In the present conference we will explore and discuss the most recent developments and high light important clinical potentials as presented by some of the best researchers in this field. The conference will include sessions and presentations on
· Cloning and reprogramming
· Production, banking and upscaling of stem cells for disease modelling
· Stem cells in the treatment of diabetes
· Ethics in stem cell research
· Bioengineering and transplantation
· Tissue engineering and organ design
· Regenerative medicine
The conference will include a poster session covering a broad range of topics on biotechnology as well as a commercial exhibition of equipment, consumables and services to Danish biotechnology.
The conference is organised in collaboration with Danish Stem Cell Society and Danish Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology as well as BioPeople

Regular fee: 3200 Kr. Reduced fee for Ph.D. and Master Students: 2000 Kr.
Number of participants is limited to 200.

Danish Biotechnological Society (DBS) / IDA Biotechnology is a scientific society established in 2006 in collaboration between Danish Biotechnology Forum and The Danish Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. DBS is organised as part of The Danish Society of Engineers, IDA. The purpose of DBS is to facilitate networking within the field of biotechnology in Denmark, creating links between universities, research institutions, hospitals and companies. DBS represents professionals working with biotechnology and seeks to promote and communicate important issues on biotechnology, biochemistry and molecular biology to the public. DBS organises scientific conferences and meetings on biotechnology.
