Thoughts on Productivity and the Concept of Swift, Even Flow

Arrangør: Kompetenceforum, IDA Nord

All kinds of processes – those that make things or deliver services or operate companies – can be made more productive, and society’s continued well-being requires it.

The Center for Industrial Production is proud to host Professor Roger Schmenner, one of the leading thinkers in the field of operations management. Roger is professor emeritus from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business and currently a visiting professor at the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge in England.

Professor Schmenner will give a lecture on his concept of “swift, even flow” and explain how that concept stands behind some popular business tools.  More than that, by using examples – contemporary and historic – and case studies, he will show how swift, even flow can lead to strategic insights and fresh ideas. Services and manufacturing, supply chains and individual operations, product development and outsourcing, strategy and tactics, hourly workers and top level executives – all benefit from this fundamental re-thinking of what it takes to become productive.
